Initiatives for Health
and Productivity Management

In May 2019, the Takasago Thermal Engineering Group announced its Health and Productivity Declaration, which states our intention to be a vibrant “Well-being Company” where all executives and employees are respected as the human resources that are the foundation of our business, and where they can work with vitality and a healthy mind and body. We are striving to cultivate a workplace environment that values health.

Health and Productivity Declaration

  1. We will cultivate a workplace environment that values health and in which Takasago management takes the initiative in encouraging employees to maintain and improve their own health.
  2. We regard maintaining and improving the health of executives and employees as an obligation of the company, and we will proactively and positively be involved in creating a rewarding workplace environment.
  3. We will create a corporate structure for maintaining and improving health, and speed up the building of systems, as we aim to be a company with executives and employees that are self-motivated to become more health conscious.
  4. We will help our executives and employees to achieve a work-life balance, and establish a corporate environment that is fulfilling and rewarding for them to work in.
  5. We will contribute to society by elevating the harmony among people who have more energy as they become healthier, and by boosting productivity through efforts to become more innovative and creative.

Health Checks and Thorough Follow-up Measures

We will implement as appropriate the legally-required health checks according to the work content and conditions of executives and employees, and have industrial physicians carry out work assessments and health maintenance guidance and assessments. If necessary, our full-time public health nurses will recommend a visit to medical institutions, and provide guidance on staying healthy in one’s daily life and habits. We will continue to support executives and employees to be self-motivated in taking care of their own health, so they can work safely and live a long and healthy life.

Measures for Mental Health

Follow-up System for New Employees

We are implementing mental and physical self-care training for new employees, who are at risk of becoming physically and/or mentally unwell due to major changes in their lifestyle. We are also making new employees aware of other support services available for them, such as consultation counters run by the Health Care Management Office and EAP and staffed by industrial physicians and public health nurses, who talk with all new employees to help alleviate any anxieties they may have about their work life.

Mental Health Training for Management

In addition to teaching management-level executives and employees about self-care, we have industrial physicians running mental health care training for supervisors to encourage them to quickly be aware of and then respond to any mental health issues their subordinates may be having.

Stress Checks

For executives and employees that are assessed as having high stress levels and who would like to talk with an industrial physician or public health nurse, we have set up a system so that they can do so without their workplace or superiors knowing about it. An appointment is promptly arranged with an industrial physician or public health nurse, and if necessary and with the consent of the individual, we will coordinate with the employee’s workplace and medical institution and start the early detection and treatment for people with mental health issues.

Aiming for Better Health Literacy

Since launching the Health Care Management Office (former Health Care Office), we have been issuing the monthly newsletter “Takasago Health News,” which is prepared by public health nurses to make executives and employees more health conscious. Our aim is to improve the health literacy of Takasago executives and employees and create a healthy and comfortable workplace, by including a wide range of themes that cover the latest knowledge and information on mental and physical health, such as LGBTQ+ issues, support for balancing work with medical treatment, and health issues that affect workers including lifestyle-related diseases, locomotive syndrome, and sleep disorders.
