Sustainability Management

The Group’s basic attitude is to pursue harmony with society and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society with ESG and CSR at the core of its management.
We continue to strengthen our legal compliance and corporate governance systems and engage in business continuity planning (BCP), afforestation for environmental conservation, public projects, and other proactive activities with due consideration for matters of environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG).

In March 2021, we announced reduction targets for Scope 1 + 2 and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions to achieve by 2030. The reduction targets—27.5% and 13.5% of 2019 levels, respectively—were recognized and certified by the SBT Initiative as scientifically based for achieving the Paris Agreement target of “well below 2℃.”
In December 2021, international environmental non-profit CDP awarded us a score of A- in the area of climate change under their global environmental disclosure system for companies and municipalities. The score corresponds to Leadership, the highest level.

In the area of Society, in 2023, we have focused on engagement in areas related to human development and are sharing highly effective measures throughout the Company. Our diversity promotion activities, which we ramped up in 2021, are divided into six workshops (Women, Career Recruitment, Global Talent, People with Disabilities, LGBTQ+, and Elderly Employees) with the aim of creating organizations in which all employees can thrive and play active roles. Additionally, in 2022, we launched human rights due diligence efforts and created a human rights risk map. We will continue to further enhance these and other efforts.

We are confident that playing an active role in striving to achieve the SDGs—a shared vision of the global community—by contributing to a decarbonized world through environmental engineering will lead to the persistent advancement of the Group.
