Diversity, Equity & Inclusion LGBTQ+
As is stated in the Basic Policy on Human Resources Management and the Basic Policy on Procurement, the Company regards discrimination and harassment against sexual minorities (LGBTQ+) as a serious violation of human rights. We recognize that it is our corporate social responsibility to cultivate a corporate culture that recognizes and respects diversity among people, regardless of an individual’s sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI), and to create a workplace environment where each employee can fully demonstrate their skills and abilities; we are continuously implementing initiatives to achieve this.
LGBTQ+ Internal Training
In FY2025, we held a training program to promote understanding of LGBTQ+ people by welcoming bourbonne, a talent and essayist who continues to engage in gender awareness activities, as the lecturer. During the lecture, she discussed not only the basic knowledge of LGBTQ+ issues but also diverse gender identities such as people who are non-binary or asexual, measures to prevent SOGI harassment, and appropriate ways to respond when someone comes out. The program was conducted in a hybrid format involving both in-person and online participation and was attended by 243 employees on the day. Many employees participated in the program, including those who watched the video recording at a later date. This served as an opportunity to deepen our understanding of how to create a workplace with a high level of psychological safety.

In FY2024, we held an online training program with Kimu Yuri, an expert in diversity and inclusion, as the lecturer. In the first half of the program, she discussed basic LGBTQ+ concepts and psychological safety in the workplace, and in the second half, she discussed systems and support measures that companies should implement while presenting concrete examples. A survey among participants indicated that some participants became aware of their unconscious biases while others felt a need for system improvements, pointing to how the training program contributed to a shift in awareness within the Company.

In FY2023, we invited Fumino Sugiyama, a transgender activist who is active on the front lines, as the lecturer to conduct a training program aimed at promoting understanding of LGBTQ+ people. In the first half, Mr. Sugiyama touched on the basic knowledge of LGBTQ+ issues, shared his personal experiences as a member of the community, and discussed the legal framework surrounding LGBTQ+ people. In the second half, he spoke about the appropriate responses and support to ensure acceptance by individuals and companies. More than 380 employees participated in the training program, including both in-person and online participants as well as those who watched the video recording at a later date, making it effective in deepening our understanding of LGBTQ+ people.
Fumino Sugiyama,
- I felt that to create a society where LGBTQ+ individuals can lead normal lives, it is most important for those who accept them to actively practice “welcoming out.”
- I would like to act with an awareness of diverse perspectives and ways of life, rather than taking my own assumptions for granted.
- I hope to convey to my own children that there are many LGBTQ+ people in the world and that it is important to understand and accept them.
Certified specified nonprofit organization ReBit
Akiho Izawa
In FY2022, we invited Akiho Izawa from the certified specified nonprofit organization ReBit as the lecturer to conduct training for the Human Resources Development Division and Management Division, which are assumed to be the divisions handling the hiring of employees and opportunities for LGBTQ+ people to come out, on the topic of promoting understanding of LGBTQ+ people and learning how to respond when someone comes out.
The training focused on learning basic knowledge of the four elements of sexuality (gender identity, biological gender, sexual orientation, sexual expression) and SOGI harassment (discriminatory speech and actions and ridicule in relation to sexual orientation and gender identity, and harassing behavior), with the major theme of how to respect the sexuality of all people as a human right, allowing participants to learn about the importance of working to promote understanding of LGBTQ+ people both within and outside the workplace.
Acquisition of Bronze Certification in the PRIDE Index 2025
As part of our efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, we strive to eliminate discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity and to create a workplace where everyone can work vibrantly and authentically. Our activities are well-received, and we were awarded a Bronze Certification in the PRIDE Index 2025.
The PRIDE Index is Japan’s first evaluation index for initiatives supporting LGBTQ+ and other sexual minorities in the workplace. It was developed by the organization “work with Pride” and sets the following five indicators. We were conferred this certification in recognition of our initiatives for “Policy,” “Representation,” “Inspiration,” and “Engagement/Empowerment.”

PRIDE Index
- Policy (Action statement)
- Representation (LGBTQ+ community)
- Inspiration (Awareness-raising activities)
- Development (HR systems and programs)
- Engagement/Empowerment (Social contribution and public outreach)
Endorsement of Marriage Equality
(Legalization of Same-Sex Marriage)

To help achieve marriage equality (legalization of same-sex marriage), Takasago Thermal Engineering endorses Business for Marriage Equality. This sends a symbolic message showing that we are a society that truly respects individual lifestyles, and also serves as a declaration of our commitment to valuing each and every employee as well as every individual who makes up our society. We seek to achieve a society where everyone can live authentically.
Participation in the Tokyo Pride Parade
On Sunday, June 8, 2025, we participated in the Tokyo Pride Parade (formerly the Tokyo Rainbow Parade), now in its fourth year. We marched through the streets of Shibuya and Harajuku alongside about 15,000 participants, carrying banners promoting diversity and waving rainbow flags, and received warm support from those lining the streets.
This year, we held a quiz and discussion regarding the parade after the parade was over to deepen mutual understanding among participants. We received a lot of positive feedback such as participants who believed that society could become a better place, those who were surprised by the proportion of LGBTQ+ people, and those who wanted more people to know about the parade, making it a day that successfully expanded knowledge and awareness surrounding LGBTQ+ issues.

Ally Sticker and PC Screen Wallpaper
Distributed to All Employees
The Company supports people who identify as the sexual minority of LGBTQ+. In order to increase the number of Ally (LGBTQ+ supporters), we have distributed Ally stickers to all employees, and sent out data that can be used as a PC screen wallpaper. Many employees are using the Ally sticker to show their empathy and advocacy of efforts to eliminate discrimination and to encourage a better understanding of LGBTQ+ people.
