The Company’s basic approach to social contributions is to fulfill our social responsibility as a good corporate citizen through our independent initiatives for making social contributions. We are making this basic policy well known to all employees, as well as actively supporting environmental, cultural, and artistic activities, and striving to achieve harmony with local communities.

Basic Policy on Social Contribution Activities

  1. The Company is committed to carrying out social contribution activities as a good corporate citizen, through communication with a wide range of stakeholders including local communities.
  2. All executives and employees are independently and proactively participating in community activities such as environmental conservation.
  3. These executives and employees are aiming to make contributions through their value-adding actions of participating in these activities.

Initiatives for Social Contribution Activities

Co-production of The Secrets of Air (Part of the Gakken Easy-to-Understand Manga Series) with Gakken Inc. and Donation of Around 24,000 Copies to Elementary Schools, Public Libraries, and Children’s Centers across Japan

We co-produced The Secrets of Air, part of the Gakken Easy-to-Understand Manga Series of educational books for elementary school students published by Gakken Inc. In December 2023, we donated around 24,000 copies through Gakken to public and private elementary schools (including special needs schools) as well as public libraries and children’s centers across Japan. The Gakken Easy-to-Understand Manga Series, which is also recommended by the Nippon PTA National Council, consists of educational manga that allow elementary school students to learn about various familiar themes in an easy-to-understand and enjoyable manner. Also known as the “Secrets Series,” over 200 titles have been published in the series over the past 20 years.

Through this initiative, we seek to convey to the next generation of children the importance of air, which we often take for granted, as well as the mechanisms of air conditioning and ventilation, the possibilities of air, and potential future applications. We will continue to support educational efforts going forward.

Air Conditioning and Ventilation System for Gyms That Is Safe, Comfortable, and Prevents Infectious Diseases

We are developing an air conditioning and ventilation system for gyms that is capable of protecting against the cold as well as preventing heat stroke and infectious diseases, making it suitable when using gyms as evacuation shelters in addition to its regular use in gyms.
In recent years, summer heat and winter cold have become increasingly severe. In particular, the indoor environment of gyms during intense summer heat poses a risk of heat stroke not only to participants of competitions and events but also to spectators. Furthermore, using gyms as evacuation shelters creates issues not only regarding heat and cold but also ventilation and protection of privacy. Given the diverse age range of evacuees, a ventilation system that covers the entire gym is essential for preventing infection due to viruses and other pathogens. In view of the growing need to ensure safety even in crowded spaces, we are moving ahead with the commercialization of this system through demonstration tests and seek to contribute to improving the environment within municipal and private sports facilities.

Takasago Thermal Engineering Forests(forest preservation activities)

In 2016, we rented forests in Gunma Prefecture and Kyoto Prefecture, which we call “Takasago Thermal Engineering Forests” and, ever since then, employees of the Takasago Thermal Engineering Group and their families have been engaged in forest conservation activities in cooperation with nonprofit organizations and municipalities. In other regions, we participate in and continue forest conservation activities organized by municipalities and organizations. In fact, we conduct such activities not only in Japan but overseas as well.

Forest preservation activities in Malaysia (industry-academia collaboration)

There are tree planting activities underway in the Takasago-UNIMAS Educational Forest, a 10-hectare expanse of land on the grounds of the University of Malaysia Sarawak, which is located in Sarawak, Malaysia. These efforts have been ongoing since 2018, and, in November of FY2024, we once again conducted on-site seedling and tree planting activities. A total of around 200 people participated, including Malaysian government stakeholders, Sarawak college students and faculty members, local elementary and middle school students, and Takasago Thermal Engineering Group staff (from the head office as well as our subsidiaries in Malaysia).

With the aim of creating forests that serve as models for rainforest regeneration, supporting university students’ research on forest restoration, and contributing to greening efforts and the conservation and regeneration of rainforests in Sarawak and throughout Malaysia, we cultivated and planted a total of 1,000 trees in FY2024.

Community clean-up activities

In addition to forest conservation activities, we actively participate in environmental initiatives including clean-up activities in the municipalities and communities where our branches and offices nationwide are located. Participation extends beyond employees to include their families and joint activities with partner companies from Kowakai.

Launch of the Environment-Creator Earthshot Program

As an innovation initiative to address future societal challenges, we launched the Environment-Creator Earthshot Program this fiscal year, which aims to discover and support emerging Environment-Creators in the fields of sports, culture, arts, and community contribution. As a pioneering effort, we signed a sponsorship agreement with professional golfer Kanako Aoki in February 2025. Ms. Aoki’s commitment to transcending conventional boundaries and continuously taking on challenges in new environments strongly resonates with our vision of the Environment-Creator and our values embodied in the TakasagoWay, which culminated in this sponsorship agreement.

From FY2025 onward, we will be fully advancing this program in fields beyond sports.

Implementation of Cultural, Artistic, and Educational Activities for Students and Children

We are implementing a number of initiatives aimed at nurturing the next generation.

Through company visits for junior high and high school students that feature lectures on business and sustainability along with office tours, as well as job experience events for elementary school students, we seek to deepen their understanding of work and the technologies that support society, thereby fostering interest and curiosity in the generation that will shape our future.
