Basic Approach to Quality

The Company’s basic approach to quality is to acquire the satisfaction and trust of customers through continuously providing high-quality construction equipment and services with excellent safety and performance. Based on this approach, in FY2011 we formulated the Basic Policy on Quality, and designated a system for promoting it. We are committed to setting up systems that sincerely, swiftly, and appropriately respond to customers’ requests and inquiries, and to maintaining and improving the construction equipment and services that we provide.

Basic Policy on Quality

  1. We will strive to understand our customers’ needs, and to provide optimal quality that will contribute to the corporate activities of customers.
  2. We will work on consistently providing quality that exceeds customers’ expectations.
  3. We will advance research and development, and provide superior quality.
  4. We will continuously provide services throughout the lifecycle of construction equipment.
  5. So that we can move forward with these initiatives, we will set up a system of quality control, and strive to continuously maintain and improve quality.

Basic Policy on Procurement

The Company will strive to achieve mutual understanding and build relations of trust with business partners, and to realize a sustainable society.

  1. We will follow fully the relevant laws, regulations, and social norms.
  2. We will strive to provide opportunities for fair and equitable transactions, and to build good partnerships with business partners.
  3. We will select optimal procurement partners, so that we can ensure the safety and health, quality, price, and delivery of the construction and services that we deliver to customers.
  4. We will prioritize the procurement of products and services that lessen the environmental burden, cut back on waste, and reduce greenhouse gases.
  5. We will select procurement partners that respect human rights, and that have a work environment with no harassment or discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, nationality, disability, birthplace/hometown, age, or other attributes.
  6. We will prioritize the selection of procurement partners that take sufficient care in protecting confidential information, customer information, personal information, and other such data, and that have in place information security systems.

Quality Control System

Based on the quality management system certification (ISO9001:2015) we have acquired, we will continuously improve on high-quality items made in a short construction period, and create new added value at our customers’ facilities.
We have also set up a Safety/Quality Management Group headed by the Technical Engineering Headquarters, and centralized the quality control system.

Quality Improvement

On-Site Safety Patrol

President Kojima talking about safety during a patrol

The on-site safety patrol is an initiative to detect and eliminate in advance any dangers on site, with the aim of preventing work-related injuries and accidents. From this fiscal year we will start using DX (digital transformation) technologies and conduct online patrols using wearable cameras, as well as work on improving the management level and making it uniform. We conduct on-site patrols led by President Kojima during the annual nationwide safety week.

Initiatives for Quality Improvement

Risk Analysis, Identification, and Measures

Remote Company-wide Safety and Health Conference

Recently, we have raised the priority policy of the elimination of three accidents leading to serious accidents and injuries, and set actions to prevent them. So as to put these policy-based measures to prevent accidents and injuries into action, we have compiled these specific activities into the Safety and Health Activities Policy, which we issue early in each fiscal year and distribute to all technical staff and partner companies.

We have also introduced risk assessments into our safety and health management, and are encouraging each construction site to preempt and respond to risks. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and as a part of our efforts toward achieving DX (digital transformation), we have started to hold remotely the annual spring Company-wide Safety and Health Conference and the safety and health patrol. We are also striving to raise the awareness of safety and health activities and the management level of all employees and partner companies.

Implementation of Internal Training

Internal training

The Takasago Academy is the main division for human resources development, and it is where we aim to improve the skills of our human resources and build an education system for the entire Takasago Group. We are focusing our efforts on the education and level-specific training required to improve the skills and capabilities of our human resources, and also encouraging employees to acquire the qualifications that will boost their skills. In FY2023, we started renewing our basic education curriculum, with the aim of encouraging employees to self-realize their own and varied career plan according to their job type (technical or clerical), while also supporting them to improve their management capabilities. We are carrying out construction that centers on building information modelling (BIM) in projects, and building up the number of DX (digital transformation) human resources throughout the Company.

Technology Conference

Technology Conference

The Technology Conference is a forum for presenting the results of the Group’s technology-related initiatives. This conference has been held annually since 1983, and it is aimed at the improvement and cross-company development of technical capabilities in design and construction, as well as for the self-improvement and interaction of engineers and other technical staff.

Cooperation with Partner Companies

The Kowakai was organized to enhance cooperation with our partner companies working together on construction sites. It consists of the headquarters and branches, each of which has its own Health and Safety Cooperation Committee to communicate information on safety and health technologies, PR activities, and make well known the relevant laws. Each of the branches implement activities to improve health and safety, including the Branch Office Health and Safety Convention.
Kowakai also operates the TKCS-s (Takasago Kowakai Communication Systems-safety), which is an online system for safety improvement and to share safety information.

Quality Assurance Integrated with Partner Companies

Takasago Meister Certification Ceremony

We carry out the education and guidance of partner companies at the Takasago Technical School. We have prepared training and education materials aimed at improving the construction quality and lessening the burden of on-site operations. In FY2007 we started the Takasago Meister certification system for recognizing outstanding technicians and engineers at partner companies, who have excellent technical and leadership skills and capabilities. In FY2017, we also set up the Takasago Senior Meister: Koki (Brilliance) system to certify engineers among the Takasago Meisters who have a particularly high level of skills and awareness, and are contributing to carrying on our technical traditions. This new system is helping to raise the level of technical skills and capabilities in the industry overall.

Takasago Meister Certification Recipients FY2018: 8 people (Cumulative total: 105 people), FY2019: 10 people (Cumulative total: 115 people), FY2020: 6 people (Cumulative total: 121 people), FY2021: 5 people (Cumulative total: 126 people), FY2022: 5 people (Cumulative total: 131 people)
